Pistons rumors: Detroit willing to trade Isaiah Stewart this offseason

The Detroit Pistons appear willing to move veteran big man Isaiah Stewart as the organization prepares for a pivotal offseason centered around roster upgrades and the upcoming 2026 NBA Draft.

According to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line, Stewart’s name has emerged as a legitimate trade candidate as Detroit explores ways to improve its shooting and playmaking depth ahead of next season.

“League sources say that the Pistons’ Isaiah Stewart is not merely available but outright bracing for a trade that sends him elsewhere this summer as part of any move that the Pistons make to bolster their shooting and playmaking depth,” Fischer reported.

The report provides one of the clearest indications yet that Detroit is actively evaluating changes following a successful regular season that ultimately ended in disappointment during the playoffs.

Fischer contrasted Stewart’s situation with that of veteran forward Tobias Harris, who appears to have a secure place in the organization’s plans moving forward.

“I’m told veteran forward Tobias Harris, by contrast, is a player Detroit is determined to retain after his solid postseason run,” Fischer wrote.

Stewart, 25, remains one of the Pistons’ most physical and versatile frontcourt players. During the 2025-26 season, he averaged 10.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.6 blocks and 1.1 assists while shooting 55 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from 3-point range across 58 games.

Pistons appear open to moving Isaiah Stewart with Bucks among admirers

His ability to defend multiple positions and contribute as a floor-spacing big man could attract interest from teams seeking frontcourt depth. Fischer’s report specifically noted that the Milwaukee Bucks are among the organizations that value Stewart.

“Sources say that the Bucks, furthermore, are Stewart fans,” Fischer wrote.

Detroit enters the offseason after posting a 60-22 record and securing the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference. Despite that success, the Pistons faced adversity in the postseason, overcoming a 3-1 deficit against the Orlando Magic before falling to the Cleveland Cavaliers in seven games during the second round.

The franchise now faces important decisions as it attempts to build a roster capable of making a deeper playoff run. With the 2026 NBA Draft scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, Stewart’s future will be one of several situations worth monitoring.

For now, no trade appears imminent. However, Fischer’s reporting suggests Detroit is open to significant roster adjustments as it looks to strengthen its position among the Eastern Conference contenders.
