Pistons’ Paul Reed gets his flowers from JB Bickerstaff after efficient Game 6 vs. Cavs

Thanks in part to a clutch performance off the bench from Paul Reed, the Detroit Pistons have once again forced a decisive Game 7 that will be played back in the Motor City.

Just as they did against the Orlando Magic in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinal, the Pistons have rebounded from a series deficit, this time against the Cleveland Cavaliers with a 115-94 victory at Rocket Arena, knotting the series at three games apiece.

Reed, who played 16 minutes, scored 17 points for the Pistons, hitting seven of his nine shots from the field while also grabbing six rebounds and dishing out an assist. After the game, head coach J.B. Bickerstaff gave Reed some well-deserved props. 

“B-Ball has been consistent,” Bickerstaff said via Coty M. Davis on X, formerly known as Twitter. “You know, every time he gets his opportunity to go out there, he does a great job of going out there and contributing at a high level.”

Reed, who is playing in his second season with the Pistons after spending the first portion of his NBA career as a member of the Philadelphia 76ers, has averaged 6.6 points per game while shooting 67.9 percent from the field. He’s also shooting 25 percent from beyond the three-point arc.

Game 7 between the Pistons and the Cavaliers is scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m. ET on Sunday evening in Detroit. If the Pistons can continue to get key contributions off the bench from Reed, he’ll go down as one of the lower-profile folk heroes that the city is always fond of on all four of its professional sports teams.
