Philly ‘forces’ Pat McAfee to respond to viral Flyers meme after beating Penguins in Game 6 OT thriller

Despite Pat McAfee’s bold prediction for the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Penguins lost Game 6 against the Philadelphia Flyers in a thrilling overtime contest. Following the loss, the Flyers hilariously trolled McAfee.

They used McAfee’s WWE WrestleMania 42 aftermath photo and photoshopped it into something hilarious. The Flyers used McAfee’s neckbrace-wearing picture from WrestleMania 42 and swapped his referee shirt with a Penguins jersey and used the caption, “DAHN AND AHT,” which meant Down and Out.

However, shortly after, McAfee addressed the meme and shared his response. “I will be forced to address this today,” he wrote. It is expected that McAfee will address the meme during the two scheduled games tonight. Later on Thursday, Apr. 30, 2026, the Minnesota Wild will face the Dallas Stars, while the Anaheim Ducks are scheduled to take on the Edmonton Oilers.

McAfee hails from Plum, Pennsylvania, which is a short drive away from Pittsburgh, the hometown of the Penguins. McAfee attended Plum High School before going to West Virginia for college. He was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the 2009 NFL Draft and spent a successful NFL run with the Colts. Following his run as an athlete, McAfee started appearing more on broadcasts and started his own podcast before exploring a brief career in WWE.

Is Pat McAfee done with WWE?

Following his stint at WWE WrestleMania 42, Pat McAfee shared a farewell message for his WWE fans. “That whole thing’s done. The wrestling business [is in the] rearview mirror. To the wrestling business, I’d like to say, thank you — thank you so much,” McAfee said.

At WrestleMania 42, fans saw McAfee in Randy Orton’s corner when “The Viper” faced Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship.
