Pedro Martinez goes full Aaron Rodgers with unprecedented message to Yankees’ fan base

The New York Yankees finished off a sweep of the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday with a 7-0 win. They were struggling before the series, but used the lowly Royals to beef up on offense. Noted Yankees hater Pedro Martinez even believes in this team, and tells the fans to relax, just like Aaron Rodgers did many years ago.

“They’re going to be okay,” Martinez said on ESPN’s First Take. “This is the only time I’m going to wish the loyal fanbase that the Yankees have to just relax a little bit and let them play. Because they have the talent, they have everything they need. And they are going to get healthier, and that’s what they need. They need to get healthier on the pitching staff.  I think if they learn what the Dodgers do when there are critical situations, which is to relax and just let the game slow down a little bit, they’re going to be fine,” Martinez said.

Considering the 16-year World Series drought and the great start from the Tampa Bay Rays, there is some panic in the Yankees fanbase. Anthony Volpe has played well since returning from the minors, which has calmed the panic down just a bit. Plus, Giancarlo Stanton is coming back soon after dealing with a calf strain.

The Yankees’ pitching staff has not been healthy since the 2024 season. Gerrit Cole and Max Fried have never been healthy at the same time, and Cam Schlittler has been the consistent piece in the rotation. If those three can get healthy at the same time, Martinez says things will get better.
