Paris Saint-Germain’s huge Bradley Barcola valuation revealed as England World Cup stars give Liverpool headache

Liverpool have held preliminary talks with PSG over Bradley Barcola, talkSPORT understands.

Barcola is emerging as one of Liverpool’s top targets to replace the departing Mo Salah after deciding not to pursue their interest in Real Madrid-bound Yan Diomande.

Sources have indicated to talkSPORT PSG would not sell for less than £145million (€170m).

Meanwhile, Chelsea’s Pedro Neto is not believed to be on Liverpool’s radar.

Reds to break their own record?

talkSPORT previously reported that Barcola had told the European champions he wanted to leave, having made only 21 league starts last season.

But if Liverpool are to sign the 23-year-old, they might have to break the British transfer record – which they set themselves.

The Reds paid an initial £125m to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle last September.

PSG are open to selling the former Lyon player, who helped France to the semi-finals of the 2026 World Cup.

And Les Parisiens have been keeping an eye on other Premier League transfers this summer to gauge Barcola’s valuation.

Three players have already moved for £100m or more during the current window.

Morgan Rogers’ £117m move from Aston Villa to Chelsea has been the most expensive so far, pipping Elliot Anderson’s £116m switch from Nottingham Forest to Manchester City.

Meanwhile, Sandro Tonali has left Newcastle for Tottenham in a £100m deal.

Liverpool have made two first-team signings since appointing Andoni Iraola as their new head coach last month.

Centre-back Jeremy Jacquet has joined from Rennes, with World Cup-winning Spain winger Victor Munoz arriving from Osasuna.

Liverpool ‘definitely need a winger’

But Iraola has stressed the need for the two-time Premier League champions to add another winger to their squad.

Asked if he had a number of signings in mind, he told reporters in Chicago, where the Reds arrived for their pre-season tour of the USA earlier this week: “No, I think it’s difficult to say a number when the market is open, and you have to be always open to new options to improve the squad.

“There are obvious situations that we know where we need to sign players. A winger, for example – we definitely need to sign a winger. But there are other situations that we will have to analyse what the market gives you, what’s the cost, how we also see the players we have.

“We have some tricky positions where we have injured players that we trust but it is still not the ideal situation. So, it will depend on a lot of things.”

Meanwhile, some big names have headed for the Anfield exit this summer.

Mo Salah, Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate all departed as free agents, with Robertson joining Spurs and Konate heading to Real Madrid.
