The Statcast detail turned Tatis’ walk-off into one of the more unusual home runs of the 2026 season.

MLB Home Runs classified the ball as “out in 1/30 parks,” with Petco Park listed as the only stadium where it cleared the fence. In the other 29 MLB venues, that same swing likely stays in play or becomes an out.

Tatis’ walk-off also came amid a surprising power drought. Through his first 65 games of the 2026 season, the Padres superstar had hit just one home run despite carrying a solid .278 batting average and continuing to provide strong defense in right field.

His slugging percentage had dipped to .348, reflecting an uncharacteristic lack of extra-base damage for one of baseball’s most explosive hitters. Tatis finished April without a homer and remained stuck in that drought well into May, making Wednesday’s game-winning blast vs. the Reds even more notable.
