Packers QB Jordan Love reveals ‘shocked’ reaction to Josh Jacobs arrest

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs was arrested in late May and was given five seperate charges, including felony strangulation and suffocation. The news came as a surprise to many, and quarterback Jordan Love was certainly one of them.

While talking with media members on Tuesday, about a week after Jacobs’ arrest, Love admitted he was surprised when the initial news broke about his 28-year-old teammate. Love did claim he had spoken with Jacobs since the arrest, but opted to keep that conversation private.

“Yeah, we’ve talked internally,” said Love about Jacobs. “Everyone knows what the situation is there. We’ve talked. But, obviously, the details… Everybody’s keeping that under wraps right now. Just out of respect for the situation… It’s great to have Josh. He’s [at the Packers’ facilities] with us. Being able to work with us and get back to work… Everybody’s kind of just waiting and letting it play out on its own.

“There’s always questions. I was shocked when I saw it,” said Love about when he heard the news about Jacobs. “Like I said, it’s one of those things we’re gonna let play out. There’s a lot of uncertainty when you hear something like that… We’ll see. We’ll let it play out and go from there.”

The alleged incident initially took place on May 23, when police responded to a disturbance complaint that evening. After further investigation, police arrested Josh Jacobs and booked him into Brown County Jail in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on May 26. He was released the following day, on May 27.

While no charges have officially been filed, the seven-year NFL veteran faces potential charges of battery/domestic abuse, criminal damage to property/domestic abuse, disorderly conduct/domestic abuse, strangulation and suffocation, and intimidation of a victim. A court date has not yet been revealed, as the investigation is ongoing.

In the meantime, Jacobs is back with the Packers, participating in OTAs. The three-time Pro Bowler ended last season with 929 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns.
