Mullins was originally selected by the Orioles in the 13th round of the 2015 MLB Draft. He would make his debut with the team in 2018 and went on to appear in 784 game. During his time in Baltimore, Mullins hit .250 with 101 home runs, 327 RBIs and 139 stolen bases.
During the 2021 season, the outfielder had his best season in the major leagues to date. Over 159 games, he hit .291 with 30 home runs, 59 RBIs and 30 stolen bases. Mullins was named an All-Star and Silver Slugger for the first and so far only time in his career.
But midway through the 2025 season, his time in Baltimore came to an end as the Orioles traded him to the New York Mets. After his half season there, he would end up signing a one-year deal with the Rays, which is how Monday’s ovation came to fruition.
Mullins’ time with the Orioles didn’t end up with a playoff appearance until back-to-back berths in 2023 and 2024. Still, it’s clear the outfielder is still thought of fondly during his run with the franchise. While the Orioles are trying to take down the Rays on Monday, their fans still found time to pay their respect to Mullins.
