Nuno Espirito Santo set to be sacked by West Ham immediately after Premier League relegation

Nuno Espirito Santo is set to be sacked by West Ham, talkSPORT understands.

The 52-year-old failed to keep the Hammers in the Premier League as their relegation to the Championship was confirmed.

West Ham beat Leeds 3-0 on the final day, but Tottenham’s win over Everton meant their drop to the second tier was confirmed.

Nuno had signed a three-year contract at the London Stadium after replacing Graham Potter in September.

He won just 11 of his 37 games in charge.

It is believed that he also has a clause in his contract that allows him to be dismissed without receiving compensation as the team did not stay up.

talkSPORT reported in last week’s notebook that Nuno could join the mass West Ham exodus in the event of relegation.

The likes of Jarrod Bowen, Mateus Fernandes and Crysencio Summerville are also set to be in huge demand.

The Hammers also face £100m of debt following their relegation from the top flight.

Who could replace Nuno?

West Ham are now looking for a fourth permanent manager in the two years since David Moyes’ exit for a second time.

Julen Lopetegui, Potter and Nuno have been a disaster at the London Stadium that has led to their relegation.

Former Hammers star Scott Parker is likely to be a top contender, as will be Slaven Bilic – who managed the club between 2015 and 2017.

Ex-West Ham boss Pardew had heard Parker’s name mentioned as a possible contender to replace Nuno.

He told Final Word on Sunday: “Maybe it will suit all parties for him to go and get someone experienced who knows the Championship like Scott Parker, whose name keeps coming up. That’s not from one source, that’s three or four sources.”

Parker has three Championship promotions on his CV with Fulham, Bournemouth and Burnley.

He is a free agent having left Burnley in April, eight days after their relegation back to the Championship was confirmed.

Parker spent four seasons at the club during his playing days and was named Hammer of the Year three seasons running.

He even scooped up the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year award while at the club.

Should Parker be appointed, Pardew offered some words of warning regarding the likely squad overhaul that would await.

“One thing I do know about the Championship, 46 games, you’ve got to have a team that can produce every three days,” Pardew said.

“Sometimes Premier League players, if you bring in big internationals, they just can’t cope with it. They find it very, very difficult.

“So you do kind of need to have a real good look at the structure and understand which players are going to cope with it and which ones won’t, which ones you’re really going to have to cash in on and use the money or a percentage of the money to rebuild.

“In a way, it’s a reset.”
