‘Non-league stuff’ – Robert Sanchez slammed for ‘ridiculous’ decision during Chelsea draw with Burnley

Jaime O’Hara absolutely tore into Robert Sanchez for his role in Chelsea’s eventual 1-1 draw with Burnley on Saturday.

The Blues went ahead through Joao Pedro in the fourth minute in what was expected to be a routine win for the west London side.

However, Chelsea failed to build upon Pedro’s early effort despite dominating possession against the Clarets.

Wesley Fofana then received his marching orders in the 72nd minute and will now miss next week’s game against title challenging Arsenal.

And Chelsea, who were without Estevao on Saturday, were made to pay for their inability to see out the win as Zian Flemming bagged a late equaliser to secure what could prove a crucial point for the relegation-threatened Clarets in one of Saturday’s three 3pm Premier League kick-offs.

And O’Hara absolutely tore into the Blues shotstopper on GameDay Phone-In with Jason Cundy, labelling his goalkeeping ‘non-league’.

‘Stupid’ Sanchez

The Spaniard opted to thump the ball forward to Joao Pedro, who was suffering with cramp, as the Blues were holding on.

“How old is (Robert) Sanchez?” O’Hara began. “He’s not young, is he. He’s got plenty of experience.”

As Cundy tried to interject, O’Hara continued: “In the 85th minute, the ball comes to him. All you do, go down. Hold onto it.

“What does he do?” Cundy asked. “He boots it straight to a Burnley player, and they’re back on it!” O’Hara replied.

“He’s done it twice. I’m looking at him going ‘What is he doing?’

“That ain’t about being young, that’s about being stupid!”

Cundy then pipes in: “Catch it, go down, kill the clock. He boots it to Joao Pedro, who’s pulling up with cramp. What’s he going to do when he gets it? It’s 3v1.

“When if it’s the perfect pass, what’s he going to do? It’s 3v1.”

O’Hara continued: “You get hold of it, you go down, get the team up and then you boot it into the corner, right? You’ve wasted two minutes.

“That stuff there, right there, is where Chelsea are just ridiculous all the time.

“It’s like non-league stuff.”

Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with Burnley on Saturday saw them go above Manchester United and into fourth.

However, United now have a game in hand on the Blues and can go three points clear of their top-four rivals with a win at Everton on Monday night.
