NFL rumors: Peter Schrager names Cardinals draft ‘wild card’ that would annoy Titans

With the Arizona Cardinals preparing for the 2026 NFL Draft, the era starts under new head coach Mike LaFleur as they look to turn the franchise around. As the Cardinals hold the No. 3 overall pick, they have a myriad of choices, with NFL analyst Peter Schrager giving an option that would annoy the team right after them in the Tennessee Titans.

In Schrager’s mock draft released on Tuesday, he would have Arizona taking Ohio State Buckeyes pass rusher Arvell Reese, though he mentions that a “wild card” pick would be Notre Dame star running back Jeremiyah Love.

“As part of the loaded NFC West, Arizona has to face three of the NFL’s best teams twice every season, and the defense was frankly not very good last year, allowing 28.7 points per game (29th),” Schrager wrote. “Reese fills a need in Arizona as a potentially elite pass rusher, and I’ve heard rave reviews on what he can bring off the field from coaches. With the changing of eras in Arizona, the Cards should be seeking out new cornerstone pieces like Reese this month. Speaking of which: One wild card to watch here is Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love.”

Why Cardinals picking Jeremiyah Love would be annoying to the Titans

As Schrager mentioned, the Cardinals possibly taking Love with the third overall pick, the reason why that would be annoying for the  Titans is that he has the team taking the Fighting Irish running back right after. Though their drafting a pass rusher isn’t out of the question.

“I interviewed Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi for ‘The Schrager Hour’ in March, and he made pointed statements about Robert Saleh’s previous teams always having ‘ waves’ of pass rushers,” Schrager wrote. “That might suggest Tennessee could think about Bailey or Reese if they are still on the board…But I just don’t think the Titans will pass on Love. This is a dynamic player who can do it all. He ran for 1,372 yards and 18 touchdowns last season.”

It remains to be seen who the Cardinals and Titans pick as the NFL Draft starts on April 23.
