NBA rumors: Knicks an option for ex-Nuggets champion, but Lakers probably aren’t
With just a few days to go before the start of training camp, there are still a handful of serviceable players available in free agency. One of them could land on the New York Knicks and help them defend the title.
With the Knicks losing Mitchell Robinson to the Boston Celtics in free agency, it would not hurt to add another veteran to fill the void in terms of emotional leadership and off-the-bench impact.
According to ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel, Bruce Brown could be a guy that the Knicks are interested in, especially since he shares the same talent agency with Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, Josh Hart, OG Anunoby, and Jose Alvarado.
“He’s a CAA (Creative Artists Agency) client. He could come in and play that Josh Hart-type of role for the Knicks. I think that would, personally for me, be a really good fit. I can see that working out perfectly there for Bruce Brown,” said Siegel on “Clutch Scoops.”

Leon Rose, the Knicks’ president of basketball operations, used to be an executive at CAA and was instrumental in bringing the aforementioned players to New York.
Siegel noted that the Los Angeles Lakers are also eyeing Brown, who won a championship with the Denver Nuggets in 2023, but the idea seems off.
“There’s been some talk about the Lakers wanting Bruce Brown after missing out on (Jonathan) Kuminga, but I’m not really sure how much I believe that, just because they need to cut two players just to add him, and the Lakers are already $500,000 above the tax right now. They can’t waive and stretch anyone anymore,” explained Siegel.
He added that the Lakers are already loaded at the wing position, making Brown’s fit questionable.
Brown played 82 games in his second stint with the Nuggets last season, averaging 7.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.0 steals in 24.4 minutes.
