The Golden State Warriors have kept key parts of their four-time NBA championship core together heading into the 2026-27 NBA season including all-world 3-point virtuoso Stephen Curry, head coach Steve Kerr, who overcame the odds to return, and Draymond Green, who has become perhaps more famous for his podcast commentary than his play on the court.

With Curry now 38 years old, Kerr 60, and Green 36, there is a healthy amount of skepticism that the Warriors will have enough gas in the tank to make the playoffs this season, let alone to compete for an NBA championship.

Does Curry have a Tom Brady-esque career arc in store, or will he slip backward a bit after a 26.6 points-per-game 2025-26 campaign? Will Kerr rediscover his competitive fire and ramp up the expectations, or is he simply too jaded and long in the tooth at this point?

And will Green be able to strike fear into the hearts of his opponents the way he has in the past, or will he devolve to bickering with first round pick and former Michigan Wolverines star Yaxel Lendeborg, leading to a disaster of Jordan Poole punch proportions?

These questions and more are among a few that will define Golden State’s 2026-27 season, which is being played out right now on the popular NBA 2K27 video game.

How each individual player improves will go a long way toward determining whether the Warriors’ playoff window has closed.

Here are three players who NBA 2K27 video game ranking will come into focus this season as they work to maximize their talents with one of the Western Conference’s prime time franchises.

Yaxel Lendeborg (73 OVR, 78 3PT, 85 DNK) 

Lendeborg is one of those rare college players who did everything he could to impress scouts in college and still slipped in the draft. He led Michigan to a national championship and did so while battling an injury during the national championship game against UConn that left him a shell of his normal self.

During the season, Lendeborg was given the nickname ‘Dominican LeBron’ by his teammates for his multi-dimensional skills on both ends of the court, as well as his leadership skills and jovial demeanor.

Lendeborg was likely given a 73 overall rating in NBA 2K27 because of his draft position (No. 11 overall), but his rating will increase by the time the season is over. Lendeborg is a fearless leader who isn’t afraid to say what needs to be said. He will lift the Warriors’ long-forgotten role players to bigger and better things by virtue of his sheer will, courage and determination.

Prior to the college hoops season, Lendeborg ruthlessly trolled teammate Roddy Gayle, Jr. for his lack of ball-handling skills. Gayle, Jr. improved them throughout the season and delivered against UConn with the national title on the line, setting up Trey McKenney for a game-clinching three with a drive-and-dish with an injured Lendeborg on the bench.

Lendeborg’s smooth three-point stroke reminds me of Klay Thompson, and his drives to the basket remind me of James.

He isn’t as physically imposing as LeBron James, but Lendeborg flashed LeBron-level leadership and scoring ability relative to college basketball and has a chance to become a more polished and physically imposing version of his Warriors teammate Jimmy Butler in due time.

Draymond Green (79 OVR, 75 3PT)

Green will benefit from playing alongside Lendeborg this season as they both sharing a willingness to pass the ball and set up their teammates for regular assists and hockey assists (seeing a play one or two steps before it happens, a Warriors specialty).

The Golden State Warriors legend is now 36 years old but has kept the edge that made him famous. He recently went off on Jonathan Kuminga’s agent over his Minnesota Timberwolves contract decision.

The combination of Green, Lendeborg and Butler gives Golden State three versatile forwards capable of matching up down low, rebounding and passing the ball with precision and foresight.

I expect Green to play better this coming season, as long as he gets along well with Lendeborg. How well the duo meshes with Butler is a major question mark, along with Butler’s physical health.

If the trio can find a good working rotation and Kerr finds ways to maximize their unique yet similar talents, I expect a bit of a renaissance season from Green and for him to rank in the 80s before the end of the year.

Stephen Curry (93 OVR, 99 3PT)

I expect Curry to have Splash Brothers flashbacks at times this season with the Golden State Warriors alongside Lendeborg, who is as smooth of a spot-up shooter as it gets among NBA rookies.

Curry is adept at using pump fakes to draw the defense and find open teammates and I believe he will up his assist numbers with Lendeborg providing much needed depth at the small forward position.

Curry is 38 years old, but takes care of his body on a level most other NBA players haven’t come close to matching.

The mileage on his feet, legs, and the rest of his body will come under scrutiny this season. I expect Curry to improve his overall rating this season by a point or two early on. It may drop during the midseason stretch and stabilize come playoff time.

How well Curry learns to utilize his teammates, and how they respond, will tell the tale here.

I expect Curry to team well with Lendeborg from the opening tip off, and mentor the Michigan rookie throughout the season while rediscovering parts of his game that have gone missing in the last year.

Curry has a contract extension looming, and will be fired up to prove he can still play at the highest level in the Bay Area this season.
