NBA rumors: Insider dumps cold water on Cavs trading Evan Mobley for Giannis Antetokounmpo
NBA analyst Bill Simmons recently stirred up offseason intrigue by suggesting that while Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo might be interested in joining the Boston Celtics, the Celtics may not feel the same way.
On his podcast, Simmons mentioned that the two-time MVP holds the Celtics organization in high regard, but there seems to be a push-and-pull dynamic regarding Boston’s actual desire to trade for him.
While Antetokounmpo’s future continues to be a hot topic in the league, speculation about a major trade involving the Cleveland Cavaliers has already been dismissed. According to a report from The New York Times, there were rumors about the Cavaliers planning a significant roster overhaul.
However, league insiders quickly shut down the idea of the Cavaliers trading their young star, Evan Mobley, to acquire the Bucks superstar.
The New York Times specifically noted that the front office is not interested in making a drastic move like trading Mobley for Antetokounmpo, emphasizing its commitment to Mobley as a foundational player in its core.
Mobley’s immediate focus is on the postseason, as the Cavaliers find themselves on the brink of elimination after a 121-108 loss to the New York Knicks in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
Despite appearing visibly tired against the Knicks’ aggressive style of play, Mobley rejected the idea that fatigue was the reason for the team’s performance.
Speaking to SNY TV, he held his team accountable, stating, “There’s definitely a toll there, but we’re in the Eastern Conference Finals, so there are no excuses right now. There’s no excuse there.”
