NaLyssa Smith to miss rest of season due to leg injury

The Las Vegas Aces have been dealt a tough injury blow as the playoffs start in a few weeks. Aces forward NaLyssa Smith is set to miss the rest of the season following a leg injury she suffered on Sunday in the team’s victory over the Toronto Tempo. Smith suffered a non-contact leg injury, per Alexa Philippou.

“Aces forward NaLyssa Smith will miss the remainder of the 2026 season after suffering a non-contact leg injury on Sunday, the Aces announce. The exact injury and whether surgery is required were not released,” Philippou posted on her X account.

The Las Vegas Aces released a statement about the injury on Thursday afternoon.

“Las Vegas Aces forward NaLyssa Smith suffered a non-contact, left leg injury at the 3:15 mark of the third quarter of the August 23 game against the Toronto Tempo and will be sidelined for the remainder of the 2026 season.”

NaLyssa Smith was having a stellar season for the Aces, who are looking to win their second straight WNBA championship. She started all 38 games that she played for the team this season and averaged 11.7 points and 6.4 rebounds while shooting 63.8% from the field. Before her injury on Sunday, she accumulated eight points, eight rebounds, one assist, two steals, and one block while shooting 4-4 from the field in 19 minutes of play.

The Aces currently sit as the third-best team in the WNBA with a record of 26-13. They’re one game ahead in the win column of the Atlanta Dream and have clinched a berth in the 2026 WNBA Playoffs.
