Lane Kiffin knows that LSU has all sorts of aura
There is only one LSU.
This is a sentiment understood by anyone who is a fan of college athletics. The world of college football specifically has run through the SEC for much of this century, and the LSU Tigers have been at the center of all of that.
Given that college football is officially back this week with Week 0 action all of these emotions, those of being a fan of the greatest game in the world, have come up to the surface. Fans are what make college football so special anyway, and Dr Pepper is among those who understands that better than anyone else.
Dr Pepper kicked off Fansville Season 9 on Thursday and did so with the help of the Tigers’ new head coach in Lane Kiffin.
Nobody gets to the core of how fandom intersects with college football the way that Dr Pepper does, and this latest spot is proof positive of that.
Dr Pepper was also kind enough to make Coach Kiffin available for conversation, and I had a fantastic time talking about Lane’s new home, even as a Florida Gator.
You see, despite my own feelings towards LSU, I recognize them to be who they are. They are among the most visible brands and points of reference in the sport. They are to be revered. I was curious how this disposition translated into Coach Kiffin’s day-to-day operations and got an answer that I absolutely loved.
Again, I’m a Gator, but I fully agree that some things should look a certain way at LSU because they are LSU. That’s what college football is about, that’s the spirit that Dr Pepper harnesses year in and year out. Tradition.
As a fan of all sports I feel safe to say that college football is where this spirit lives in its truest sense. Things are important for certain reasons and you want the people in charge to feel that way, too. I imagine that any LSU fan is thrilled to hear that Coach Kiffin feels the way he does about Baton Rouge operations.

In addition to some new spots, Dr Pepper also has new merchandise available for sale as well this season. They are an important part about the sport and things within it needing to look a certain way… imagine conference championship weekend without anybody tossing footballs in their cans as an example.
Cheers to Dr Pepper, and cheers to the Florida Gators giving Lane Kiffin’s Tigers all that they can handle this season.
