Knicks rumors: What are plans to round out roster after NBA’s latest flurry of signings

The 2026-27 New York Knicks roster remains incomplete as a few spots remain open. One NBA insider explained what has been going on with the franchise this summer

New York experienced an unforgettable title run throughout the 2025-26 season. They ended a 53-year title drought, winning their third-ever NBA title after beating the San Antonio Spurs in five games during the 2026 NBA Finals.

New York is bringing back a similar roster with some tweaks to the rotation. NBA insider Brett Siegel appeared on the latest episode of Clutch Scoops with Tomer Azarly, going over options the franchise can consider with the offseason going through its final stages this summer.

“They’re just kind of in wait-and-see mode, especially with some teams that are going to be cutting down their rosters ahead of training camp and in training camp. Some veterans could become available, much like how Jordan Clarkson became available for the next last season, and so that’s what New York is going to be doing. They’re going to wait and see who becomes available, offer them a minimum contract, get to 14 players on their active roster,” Siegel said at the 31:10 mark.

“There’s still some veterans out there on the market. We mentioned Gabe Vincent earlier. Kevin Love is still a free agent. There’s some other guys out there. Kelly Olynyk is one that has experience in this league. So the Knicks are going to be bringing in a veteran on the back end of their roster to kind of round it out here with that 14th roster spot, much like how they did last year with Jordan Clarkson.”

What lies ahead for Knicks next season

The Knicks will be busy trying to pull off a title repeat. No matter what happens, they have created incredible memories with the New York community.

New York finished with a 53-29 record last season, securing the third seed in the East standings. They went 16-3 in the playoffs, rolling off 13 straight wins to get to their first NBA Finals since 1999. After beating the Spurs, they ended a 53-year drought to earn their third-ever title.

The Knicks go through the offseason with plenty of security. They retain their star core but addressed some holes in the second unit through the draft and free agency. They now prepare their title defense for the 2026-27 campaign.
