Myles Garrett reveals how he landed No. 95 with Rams from Poona Ford

In one of the most shocking twists of the NFL offseason, Myles Garrett has been traded from the Cleveland Browns to the Los Angeles Rams. But while Garrett may be playing for a new team, he’ll be keeping his old number.

The pass rusher will be wearing No. 95 in Los Angeles. That means that defensive tackle Poona Ford will have to change his number. But Garrett was willing to pay the price to keep his jersey number, via the NFL’s X, formerly Twitter account.

“Maybe more than a couple [bucks],” Garrett joked about what he paid for No. 95. “He was open to it and I understood there have been some other number trades before me. I based my decision off of that. He understood and I’m glad to be sticking with the No. 95.”

The Rams were already prepared to roll out the red cart after trading away Jared Verse and their first-round pick in 2027. And on Ford’s side, he’ll now get to play against one of the more dominant pass rushers in NFL history. The defensive tackle’s jersey collection may now look different, but Garrett keeping No. 95 appeared to be a win-win for all parties.

With that small issue taken care of, Garrett and the Rams will now focus on football. Los Angeles’ 47 sacks tied for the sixth-most in the league in 2025. And now they’ll be adding a pass rusher who just set the single-season sack record with 23.

Garrett’s number may be the same, but the Rams are now expecting their defense to look much more ferocious in 2026. The pass rusher is ready to make a real attempt at winning a Super Bowl.
