Mohamed Salah injury update issued as concerns mount World Cup could be over
Egypt manager Hossam Hassan is hopeful scans will show Mohamed Salah does not have a serious injury.
Salah came off early in the second half during Egypt’s 1-1 draw with Iran on Saturday morning.

The former Liverpool superstar was then seen with an ice pack heavily strapped to his left hamstring on the bench.
Salah is now in a race to be fit in time for Egypt’s World Cup round of 32 clash against Australia, which will take place next Friday, July 3, in Dallas.
Hassan: ‘We hope for the best’ on Salah’s injury
Despite the injury scare, Hassan is optimistic Salah will be good to go for the Socceroos contest.
“Salah asked to be replaced, but we still don’t know the diagnosis,” Hassan said.
“Since he felt something, it means there is something. He will undergo scans and we hope for the best.”
The Pharaohs boss added: “I talk to Salah and he said he’s going to be OK and it’s not a big injury.
“We still have time to talk to the medical staff.
“I think he will be back, and when I spoke to Salah he assured me he’s going to be OK.”
Salah has been a key member of Egypt’s charge to the World Cup knockouts.
The 34-year-old has one goal and two assists to his name from Egypt’s three group stage games.

Salah provided the assist in Egypt’s 1-1 draw with Belgium while he contributed two of the three goals scored against New Zealand.
Pharaohs survive almighty Iran scare
Egypt ultimately ended the group stage unbeaten courtesy of the 1-1 draw with Iran.
However, Iran were desperately unlucky not to have snatched all three points at the death.
Shoja Khalilzadeh thought he had secured a famous win for Iran when he smashed the ball into the net following a goalmouth scramble.
But his goal was ruled by VAR for offisde, ensuring Egypt a valuable point.
Had Khalilzadeh’s goal stood, Iran would have moved up to second in Group G and Egypt would have finished third.
Instead, Egypt now know they will play the Socceroos, while Iran face a nervy wait to find out if they make the cut as one of the eight best third-placed teams.
