MLB rumors: Brewers fans will hate Tarik Skubal bridesmaid revelation after Dodgers trade

The world of Major League Baseball was rocked after it was announced the Los Angeles Dodgers traded for Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal on Saturday. The news may have hit the Milwaukee Brewers the hardest, though, as that club was relentlessly trying to work out a deal for Skubal.

New reporting is shedding light on just how tough this deal may be in the end for Milwaukee.

“The Brewers were viewed as the other team going hardest after Skubal. They have arguably the best system in the majors and there was the dream of teaming Skubal with Jacob Misiorowski atop the rotation. But it did not occur,” the New York Post reported.

The Dodgers traded just three prospects for Skubal. At least one reporter claimed the Dodgers pulled off a robbery, getting the ace at that cost.

While it may never be known what Milwaukee proposed in exchange for Skubal, the outlet believes that the Brewers could have reached a deal.

“Young, inexpensive players hold greater value for small-market teams like the Brewers and Tampa Bay Rays than they do for the Dodgers. There is a strong argument that this was the moment for both those clubs to push for Skubal, who could have transformed the Brewers, in particular, the way CC Sabathia did in 2008,” the Post added.

Milwaukee currently leads the National League Central. While the Brewers have been one of the best teams in the NL in recent years, it is the Dodgers that have been headed to the World Series. This trade certainly makes Los Angeles a favorite once again to reach the Fall Classic in 2026.

The MLB trade deadline is on Monday. Brewers fans hope their team is still able to find quality talent before then.
