Dodgers’ Tarik Skubal trade declared a ‘robbery’ as Tigers get ‘bupkis’ in return

The Los Angeles Dodgers made a powerful statement to Major League Baseball on Saturday, when the team was able to reach a deal for Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal. L.A. is sending three prospects to Detroit for Skubal. As a result, many MLB insiders feel the Dodgers just pulled off a stunning feat.

“They got bupkis,” one rival executive said about the Tigers haul, per the New York Post.

Reporter Jon Heyman, who works for the outlet, shared a post on X to clarify what Detroit received in return. None of the three players the Tigers received currently plays on the Dodgers roster.

“Baseball people do like OF Zyhir Hope who’s seen as a future multiple MLB All-Star, but some say the package is light for Skubal “a top two player in baseball,” Heyman posted. “One rival says if that’s the deal, call around and ask anyone to beat it. “That’s a deal you can do Monday morning.”

One reporter in California was even more critical of the Tigers, suggesting that the Los Angeles front office pulled off a heist.

“(President of baseball operations) Andrew Friedman should have worn a ski mask to work Saturday. Because he was about to commit a robbery. Friedman traded three players who didn’t have real futures in his organization for a ticket to the World Series,” California Post reporter Dylan Hernandez posted to X.

The Dodgers have won the last two World Series titles. With Skubal in the rotation, Los Angeles seems even stronger. He joins a pitching staff that already includes Shohei Ohtani, Blake Snell, and Yoshinobu Yamamoto.

Los Angeles is currently first in the National League West this season. The club is 69-42 on the campaign.
