Mitch Marner’s reaction to massive Game 3 performance for Golden Knights
The Vegas Golden Knights skated past the Anaheim Ducks on Friday, in their Stanley Cup Playoffs series. Golden Knights winger Mitch Marner had a huge game, as Vegas won 6-2. The Golden Knights now have a 2-1 lead in the series.
Following the game, Marner spoke out about his performance in Game 3. He posted four points in the contest.
“It’s always nice to try and contribute in a couple games but, at the end of the day, you just want to win games,” Marner said, per NHL.com. “Tonight, a lot of great plays by a lot of people around me to set me up in a spot I could succeed in.”
Marner finished his night with five shots on goal. He scored three goals to earn himself a hat trick.
“I try to always be an energizer guy,” Marner said. “A guy that goes out there and brings a lot of passion and energy to games. Obviously, I always want the puck on my tape. I want to try to make the plays.”
Marner is leading the way for Vegas right now. He leads all skaters this postseason with 13 points, per NHL.com. That includes six total goals.
“(Marner) is very confident in what he brings,” Golden Knights coach John Tortorella said. “You know, people give him (stuff) all the time about playoffs and this and that, and I don’t think it bothers him a lick. He just plays. He’s a hockey player, and I’m glad he’s doing some things for us.”
Marner’s hat trick was the second this postseason for Vegas, the outlet reported. The Golden Knights and Ducks play Game 4 of this Stanley Cup Playoffs series on Sunday night.
