Mets’ Carlos Mendoza still playing waiting game on Francisco Lindor injury
As New York Mets star Francisco Lindor is in the midst of an injury recovery, the shortstop is still taking steps to get back from his nagging calf injury and get back on the field for the team. With fans wondering when the Mets star will be activated off the injured list (IL), manager Carlos Mendoza would give an update on where the team is when looking at Lindor’s injury.
Speaking to the media before Tuesday’s game against the Chicago Cubs, Mendoza would say that New York is essentially playing the waiting game with Lindor. As Lindor is set for a rehab game at Triple-A on Tuesday, Mendoza said the team will reassess after about the next steps.
“No, just gotta wait,” Mendoza said when asked about Lindor, via SNY Mets. “Gotta wait till he gets through the game tonight. Full game for him. We’ll see where we’re at after the game. I’m pretty sure we’ll have conversations with the trainers, himself, and then we’ll make a decision on what’s next for him.”

Mendoza’s comments fall in line with what he said on Monday about Lindor, saying that how he feels after the rehab contest will determine what the next steps are going to be.
“He’s going to play for Syracuse tomorrow, I think they’re at Lehigh Valley, so he’ll play one more tomorrow, and we’ll reassess after the game and see what’s next for him,” Mendoza said, via SNY Mets.
“We’ll see. We’ll see whether you know he needs a day off. Is he ready to come? Just gotta wait, get through tomorrow, and we’ll have those discussions,” Mendoza said.

At any rate, it remains to be seen if Lindor’s return to the Mets will be imminent.
