Maple Leafs ‘working on’ Darren Raddysh sign-and-trade with Lightning

The Toronto Maple Leafs have been active already as the NHL offseason is now fully underway. Toronto traded Joseph Woll and Simon Benoit to the Philadelphia Flyers in a notable deal. However, they are reportedly not done, and they have pending unrestricted free agent Darren Raddysh in their sights.

The Maple Leafs and Tampa Bay Lightning are working on a sign-and-trade agreement involving Raddysh, according to NHL insider Elliotte Friedman. The return for the 30-year-old defenseman is not known, nor are the contract terms included in the sign-and-trade deal.

“Don’t expect this to be finalized until the morning, but there is word the Toronto Maple Leafs and Tampa Bay Lightning are working on a sign-and-trade for Darren Raddysh. The 30-year-old defenceman had a breakthrough 2025-26 with 22 goals and 70 points,” Friedman reported on social media.

As Friedman alluded to, Raddysh is coming off a standout season for the Lightning. He scored 22 goals and 70 points to place himself among the best offensive defensemen in the game. 10 goals and 26 points came on the power play, as well.

This is a developing story. Updates to follow.
