Manchester City vs Fulham predictions and betting tips – Guardiola’s side back in

Manchester City are still in the Premier League title race after they came from behind to beat Liverpool 2-1 on Sunday, keeping them within six points of Arsenal in top spot.

City can close the gap further on Wednesday, but will they get the job done against Fulham? Here is what to expect at the Etihad Stadium.

Manchester City vs Fulham predictions

If Manchester City go on to win the Premier League title, they will look back at February 8 as a significant step on the path to glory.

After 83 minutes at Anfield, City trailed Liverpool 1-0. Had the scoreline remained that way, Pep Guardiola’s side would have ended the weekend nine points behind Arsenal.

There is still a significant amount of football to be played this term, but it would have been very difficult for City to overturn such a substantial deficit.

That is why their comeback was so crucial. Bernardo Silva poked home an equaliser with six minutes of normal time remaining, before Erling Haaland converted a penalty in stoppage time to win the match for City.

It was the first time Guardiola had beaten Liverpool away from home in front of fans, with his only previous triumph having come in the covid era.

“It’s so difficult. Anfield is Anfield,” the City boss said afterwards. “The tradition, the history, the crowd. It looks smaller, tighter, the pitch does not look the size of the Etihad Stadium.

“The players they have and everything. Of course we would be disappointed [if we lost] and the questions would be it’s (the title race) over.

“Six [points behind Arsenal] is better than nine but it’s still a lot considering Arsenal and how strong they are in all departments.”

Indeed, the Gunners remain favourites to finish the season on top of the Premier League tree. A six-point lead is still significant, giving Arsenal some breathing space at the summit of the standings.

However, City have a golden opportunity to pile the pressure on Mikel Arteta’s men this midweek. A victory over Fulham on Wednesday would close the gap to three points ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Brentford 24 hours later.

Because this squad of Arsenal players has not won a trophy together, they are more prone to bouts of collective anxiety than more experienced groups.

Several City players (not to mention the manager) have been there and done it before. Psychologically speaking, that could give them an advantage in the run-in.

First and foremost, though, City must ensure they take care of business when Fulham visit the Etihad.

It would be a colossal waste were Guardiola’s men to drop points here having worked so hard to emerge victorious at Anfield last time out.

Manchester City vs Fulham betting tips

Manchester City continue their Premier League title tilt against Fulham on Wednesday.

Man City to win again

Fulham are a decent team who are in the mix for a top-half finish having just missed out in 2024/25.

They play neat and tidy football, and in the likes of Harry Wilson, Kevin and Samuel Chukwueze, the Cottagers possess several attackers who can change a game with a moment of magic.

For all that, it is hard to see Manchester City slipping up here. The manner of their victory over Liverpool will have given Guardiola’s charges renewed belief in the title race, and they will not pass up the chance to halve the gap to Arsenal.

There have been over 2.5 goals in each of City’s last three matches in all competitions, so pair that selection with a home win.

Man City seek fast start

Manchester City will be keen to get off the mark as early as possible on Wednesday to further increase the heat on Arsenal.

Guardiola’s side have tended to get out of the blocks quickly this season. They were the better team in the opening 45 minutes against Liverpool, for instance, just as they were in the draw with Tottenham Hotspur a week earlier.

Across the campaign as a whole, City have by far and away the best record in the league from minutes one to 45.

They have been ahead at half-time in 75 percent of their home games up to now, so Fulham will be tested from the first whistle.

Haaland back among goals

Haaland’s effort against Liverpool may have come from the penalty spot rather than open play, but the importance of the goal will have helped to restore the striker’s confidence.

The Norway international has still only scored three times in his last 13 outings in all competitions, and two of those strikes were spot-kicks.

But while form is temporary, class is permanent. It is only a matter of time before Haaland is firing on all cylinders again.

The Premier League’s current top scorer likes playing Fulham, against whom he has struck seven times in seven matches.
