Magic waive Jonathan Isaac after 9 seasons

Following a nine-year run that featured plenty of defensive grit and injury problems, the Orlando Magic are deciding to waive forward Jonathan Isaac, per The Stein Line’s Jake Fischer. The organization was set to pay the former No. 6 overall draft pick a fully guaranteed $14.6 million next season, but by making this roster decision, it will only shell out $8 million.

Financial flexibility is vitally important in this “second apron era” of the NBA, and Isaac is an unfortunate casualty of the added restrictions. However, the Magic are leaving the door open for a potential reunion.
