'Lot of positives going into the Women's T20 World Cup' - Harmanpreet Kaur remains confident despite series defeat to England

Harmanpreet Kaur played well in the decisive third T20I between India and England at The Cooper Associates County Ground in Taunton on Tuesday, June 2. However, the Women in Blue failed to secure the win. The home side bagged the series 2-1.

India won the first T20I comprehensively by 38 runs in Chelmsford. However, England bounced back with a 26-run win in the second T20I in Bristol. On Tuesday, Charlotte Dean's side won by six wickets, chasing down a 181-run target in 18.3 overs with six wickets to spare.

While the Women's T20 World Cup is around the corner, Harmanpreet didn't sound overtly concerned after the series defeat. She said that there were a lot of positives heading into the marquee event and the warm-up matches against the West Indies and England will give the team management a better idea of what the ideal XI would be. Talking about the third T20I, the Indian skipper said that they would have won had they been able to break the 137-run partnership between Alice Capsey and Heather Knight sooner.

"For us it was a case of getting one more wicket. We were in the game, but unfortunately we couldn't [break the stand]. Lot of positives, except for the wicket we were looking for, going forward to the World Cup. [Best XI?] We are pretty clear, still have two more practice games before WC, we can think about other combinations. We have very good players who are sitting out and will have chances, but we are pretty clear on the XI going forward," she was quoted as saying by NDTV Sports.

Earlier in the match, Harmanpreet top-scored for the visitors as she made an unbeaten 56 off 40 balls against England. However, half-centuries from Capsey and Knight made the run-chase a bit of a cakewalk towards the end.

India's campaign in the showpiece event begins on June 14, as they take on arch-rivals Pakistan at Edgbaston in Birmingham on Sunday, June 14.
