LIV Golf climax has just ‘five per cent chance’ of happening after crunch talks
Martin Kaymer is doubtful LIV Golf’s season-ending event will go ahead as planned next month.
The tour returns to action with LIV Golf UK at JCB Golf & Country Club this weekend.

However, ahead of the first round on Thursday, Kaymer has provided an update on LIV’s upcoming events.
Further tournaments in New York and Indianapolis are scheduled for next month.
They will then be followed by the Team Championship in Michigan between August 27 and 30.
Kaymer has admitted that it is ‘highly unlikely’ that the season’s climax takes place, though.
It comes as doubts remain over the tour’s future after the Saudi Arabia Private Investment Fund (PIF) pulled its funding.
The PIF will no longer finance LIV Golf from the end of the current campaign.
LIV Golf event in doubt
Former world No.1 Kaymer spoke to reporters this week following a meeting with league bosses.
The two-time major champion, who is captain of Cleeks GC, commented on the season’s remaining three events.
He explained: “I know that Indianapolis most likely is happening. There was a conversation yesterday. Michigan, highly unlikely.”
When asked how likely it is that the Team Championship goes ahead, Kaymer replied: “Five per cent.”

According to the 41-year-old, a decision on the event is expected by Tuesday.
LIV’s immediate future as well as 2027 and beyond remains under threat following the PIF’s withdrawal of funding.
Although events have since gone ahead in Mexico, the USA, South Korea and Spain, this weekend’s will be the first in seven weeks.
Last month’s LIV Golf Louisiana was cancelled, with the last event in Andalusia concluding back on June 7.
The future of LIV Golf
Kaymer also discussed a captains’ meeting with CEO Scott O’Neil ahead of this weekend’s tournament.
He explained: “We were hoping for a bit more information. We got the information, but we were more looking for decisions or what is happening next year.

“Unfortunately, even Scott, he can’t tell us because he doesn’t know.
“It depends so much on the investors. Hopefully, I think there’s a lot of interest and it’s looking good.
“But we’ve all been there. If the signature is not there, then it doesn’t mean anything.”
