Crystal Palace star has perfect response to Fulham fan heckle

Ben Chilwell chirped back at a Fulham fan following his perfect Premier League return for Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Chilwell scored a late winner for Palace just a few days after joining the club, before post-match footage showed him basking in the glory during an interaction with a supporter.

The left-back smashed home a rebound only three minutes after being substituted on to claim a 3-2 win for the Eagles.

He wheeled away in celebration at the time, screaming in joy in front of the away fans as Fulham sank to a third straight loss.

Alvaro Arbeloa’s side sit joint-bottom of the Premier League after the loss, but that didn’t stop a fan digging at Chilwell.

A Cottagers supporter shouted down towards Chilwell from the stands as he walked down the tunnel at Craven Cottage.

The fan shouted: “Chelsea reject!”

Chilwell instantly responded to the chirp, saying ‘Take that L’ and holding his fingers up in an L shape towards the supporter.

Silence followed from the Fulham fan, with another person in the background of the video, which was posted by Crystal Palace‘s official account, chanting: “Wheyyyyy!”

Chilwell spent five years as a Chelsea player after joining from Leicester in a deal worth up to £50million in 2020.

He won the Champions League at the club and played over 100 games, scoring nine goals and providing 13 assists.

However, he did miss 110 matches due to injury and his Blues career fizzled out in 2024, joining Palace on loan before then leaving Stamford Bridge permanently last summer.

Chilwell: ‘I’m buzzing’

Chilwell wasn’t going to let the shout from his London rival get to him after what was a dream start back in England.

He left Strasbourg on Deadline Day to join Palace for a second time and scored the Eagles’ winner after fellow left-back Tyrick Mitchell scored two before being substituted.

“To be fair, T [Tyrick Mitchell] had scored two from left wing-back,” he said. “So it must have been a day for the left wing-backs.

“We spoke about the past few days, when I’ve been interviewed, but I’m buzzing to be back among the boys.

“I love being here, so to come back and score the winner in front of the Palace fans, it was great to see how buzzing the boys were.

“It’s a great feeling.”
