Lewis Hamilton makes £6million Ferrari statement as he arrives at Monza in dream F40

Lewis Hamilton has arrived at Monza in spectacular fashion – and he has brought one of Ferrari’s most iconic road cars with him.

The seven-time world champion turned heads ahead of this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix as he rocked up to the circuit in a Ferrari F40.

And this was no ordinary F40.

Hamilton’s latest arrival is a low mileage example which had reportedly spent more than 30 years sitting in a garage, before being rescued and restored by Ferrari’s own specialists at Maranello.

The car is now estimated to be worth millions, with exceptional Ferrari F40s commanding more than £6million at auction.

And Hamilton‘s example has a story of its own.

After discovering the dust covered car, the Ferrari star sent it back to Maranello, where Ferrari’s engineers and mechanics spent weeks bringing the legacy machine back to life.

But the car wasn’t the only thing turning heads.

Hamilton arrived wearing a striking outfit complete with a tan overcoat, dark suit, black tie, beret, and sunglasses, creating an almost cinematic Ferrari moment.

It was a deliberate nod to his famous arrival at Maranello in January 2025, when he was photographed alongside the F40 outside, enjoying Ferrari’s former home.

Only Hamilton could make turning up to work look like a luxury fashion campaign.

The F40 itself carries enormous significance for Ferrari.
Built between 1987 and 1992, it was the last Ferrari road car commissioned and approved by founder Enzo Ferrari before his death.

Only around 1,300 were produced, helping explain why surviving examples are now considered automotive treasure.

And bringing one to Monza makes the occasion even more extravagant.

This is Ferrari’s home race.

The Italian Grand Prix is one of the biggest weekends on the team’s calendar, with thousands of passionate Ferrari supporters descending on the circuit to see the famous red cars compete on home soil.
For Hamilton, it is particularly significant.

He is now in his second season as a Ferrari driver – and this weekend the team is going even further.

Ferrari will run a special Schumacher inspired livery on Hamilton and Charles Leclerc’s SF-26s to mark 30 years since Michael Schumacher’s first Italian Grand Prix victory with the team.

The tribute takes inspiration from Schumacher’s 1996 Ferrari 310, with white, black, and gold details alongside his famous ‘MS’ logo and seven stars standing for his seven world titles.

So, from F40 in the paddock to the Schumacher inspired F1 car on track, Ferrari are pulling out all the stops.

And Hamilton will be desperate to make the weekend about more than just a spectacular entrance.

The Brit has enjoyed a much stronger 2026 season than his difficult first season with the team. He has already claimed his first Ferrari Grand Prix victory, winning in Barcelona in June after a 686-day wait for an F1 win.

He has also collected five podium finishes and has scored points at every Grand Prix so far this season.

After 12 rounds, Hamilton sits third in the drivers’ championship on 183 points, while Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc is also fighting at the front.

Although Ferrari have occasionally struggled to match the outright pace of their rivals, he still finds himself 59 points behind the championship leader Kimi Antonelli heading into Monza.

But there is now a genuine opportunity.

Antonelli is set to start from the back of the grid after an engine penalty, potentially giving Hamilton and Ferrari a golden chance to close the gap.

And with the Tifosi, roaring from the grandstands, Hamilton knows exactly what is expected – victory.
