LeBron James’ message to Caitlin Clark after historic WNBA milestone
The Indiana Fever came out firing on all cylinders during their 2026 debut on Saturday. Indiana dropped a close game against Dallas, losing their home opener 107-104 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. But the Fever’s best player made WNBA history during the game and even got a shoutout from a legendary NBA figure.
Fever guard Caitlin Clark set yet another career milestone during Indiana’s 2026 debut. Clark became the fastest player in WNBA history to record 1,000+ points, 250+ rebounds, and 250+ assists. She reached that mark in just 54 games, beating the previous record of 62 games set by the legendary Diana Taurasi.
NBA superstar LeBron James took to social media to celebrate Clark’s latest milestone.
“CONGRATS @caitlinclark22,” James posted on his Instagram story, along with several clapping emojis.
Clark scored 20 points in her first regular season game played since July 15th, 2025. She went 7-of-18 from the field with seven assists, five rebounds, and five turnovers. Clark was still finding her range from behind the 3-point line, only going 2-of-9 on the afternoon.
Some of those misses came at critical moments later in the game. Both Clark and Kelsey Mitchell had opportunities to land game-tying 3-pointers in the closing seconds of the fourth quarter.
Efficiency became the difference, with Atlanta shooting 59% from the field and 52% from 3-point range. Meanwhile, Indiana went 52% from the field and only 29% behind the 3-point line.
As those percentages suggest, there were constant fireworks. Indiana and Dallas made WNBA history, becoming the first season-opener in league history where both teams scored more than 100 points.
Clark also shut down injury concerns following Saturday’s game. She left the court multiple times during the game, but claims she was only getting her back adjusted.
Hopefully she is good to go for Indiana’s road game against LA on Wednesday May 13th at 10:30PM ET.
