Knicks’ Mikal Bridges drops ‘terrible’ truth bomb on NBA Finals Game 3 performance

The New York Knicks are currently up 2-1 in the NBA Finals after a Game 3 loss at home to the San Antonio Spurs. The Knicks went up by seven points at halftime of this contest after a rough start, but they ultimately fell apart in the late third and early fourth quarter and couldn’t complete a late-game comeback.

Mikal Bridges had his worst game since the first round of the playoffs in this one, scoring just two points on 1-5 from the field.

On Tuesday, Bridges got 100% real on what went wrong for him in Game 3.

“Personally, I think I played a terrible game. Not playing defense well and fouling, being in foul trouble… You can’t sulk from last game. You learn from it,” he said, per SNY Knicks on X, formerly Twitter.

Bridges picked up two early fouls in this one that sent him to the bench quicker than usual and kept him out of rhythm for the rest of the game.

Jalen Brunson had his most efficient game of the series, going 11-25 from the field for 32 points, but the Knicks fell apart too often on defense in this one, allowing Victor Wembanyama to get free under the basket on multiple occasions and also struggling to get out to the Spurs’ shooters on the perimeter.

The Knicks still control this series with a 2-1 lead, but the pressure will be on for them to respond in Game 5, or risk going back to San Antonio tied 2-2, and without home court advantage (not that it’s been much of an advantage thus far in this series).

A good game from Bridges would certainly help in that effort.

Game 4 is set for Wednesday night at 8:30 pm ET.
