Knicks’ Jalen Brunson links up with WWE Champion Cody Rhodes at Disney event

Mickey Mouse brings everyone together, as New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson linked up with Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes at a recent Disney event in New York City.

Disney held the 2026 Upfront event at the Javits Center, showcasing their upcoming projects from TV to movies to sports. Brunson linked up with Rhodes and also snagged a picture with Rowan Blanchard.

Of course, Brunson and Rhodes are representatives of Disney’s growing sports portfolio. WWE and ESPN recently inked a deal to broadcast their monthly PLEs on their new streaming service. Brunson and the Knicks are frequently broadcast on ESPN as well, and their playoff run continues after advancing to the Eastern Conference Finals for the second year in a row.

It’s no secret that Brunson is a big WWE fan, likely making his link-up with Rhodes cool. He attended an episode of Friday Night SmackDown held at Madison Square Garden, the home of the Knicks, in June 2024.

During the episode, Brunson got into it with Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton. Little did they know, this would be a preview of the Eastern Conference Finals a year later, which the Pacers would win.

Rhodes, meanwhile, is on a brief hiatus from WWE after suffering injuries at WrestleMania 42. He had a violent match against Randy Orton, but he ultimately came out on top. After the match, Orton attacked Rhodes, delivering a punt kick, a move that has been retired for years.

When Rhodes will return is unknown. He missed the Backlash PLE in Tampa, Florida, on May 9. Perhaps he will be back in time for WWE’s next international PLE, Clash in Italy, on May 31. The summer is starting, which means SummerSlam is just around the corner. It’s highly unlikely that Rhodes would miss the company’s second-biggest annual event.
