Josh Allen, fantasy managers will love Bills’ bold DJ Moore plan after much-maligned trade
The Buffalo Bills went all in on 2026 earlier this offseason. Buffalo pulled off a big trade for DJ Moore, giving Josh Allen one more playmaker to target in the passing game. It sounds like the Bills have a great plan for how to use the veteran receiver ahead of a crucial 2026 season for the organization.
ESPN’s Ben Solak shared some insights from Bills training camp in a recent article. He provided details about Buffalo’s plans for Moore that should have fantasy football managers excited.
Solak recalled that Moore’s best season in the NFL came under Joe Brady’s tutelage. Brady is now running the show in Buffalo.
“Receiver DJ Moore was never used more downfield than he was in 2020, his first year under then-coordinator Joe Brady with the Panthers,” Solak wrote. “He averaged 13.2 air yards per target, well above the 9.7 he averaged in three seasons with the Bears. Now he rejoins Brady in Buffalo, where he will bring a missing element to the offense: downfield speed.”
Moore ripped off 66 receptions for 1,193 receiving yards and four touchdowns during that season.
Solak also noted that Moore should thrive on routes well past the short areas of the field. That is an area where Buffalo has seriously lacked options in recent seasons.
“… When I asked around about the plan for Moore’s usage in this offense, I heard a lot about deep- and intermediate-breaking routes,” Solak added. “Internally, the Bills say that they should be a lot more productive off play-action given how dominant their running game has been in the past few seasons, and Moore is the first guy up for those one-on-one downfield opportunities.”
This is all great to hear, especially after analysts trashed the Moore trade throughout the summer. Multiple pundits believe that the Bills paid too much to acquire Moore. They cited both his age and weighty contract as evidence that it was a poor decision.
Ultimately, the Bills won’t mind the hate if Moore can ball out in 2026. It will be exciting to see how he changes Buffalo’s offense this fall.
