Patriots’ A.J. Brown savagely schools Sauce Gardner in joint practice vs. Colts

While New England Patriots wide receiver AJ Brown is primed for a big season, Colts cornerback Sauce Gardner welcomes targets from opposing quarterbacks. But maybe not Drake Maye? Brown savagely schooled Gardner in a joint practice with the Colts, according to a post on X by Ari Meirov.

Brown, a seven-year veteran, is coming off four straight 1,000-yard seasons. He has earned four Pro Bowl honors along with a second team All-Pro nod.

Gardner is a four-year veteran, who earned Pro Bowl nods in each of his first two NFL seasons. However, he didn’t reach that level in 2024 or 2025. He got traded from the Jets to the Colts in the middle of the 2025 season.

Brown has been widely tabbed as a player who could have a big season in 2026. He seems to fit well with Maye. And the Patriots should have a dynamic offense.

But Brown will have to mesh with his new teammates. That’s an issue that came to the forefront recently after a dust-up with Christian Gonzalez, according to a post on X by Carlos A. Lopez.

Brown said he’s ready to make a difference for the Patriots in 2026, according to a post on X by Carlos A. Lopez.

“Vrabes is about to make me turn up,” Brown said. “Like make me go to another place. Obviously I wanna be great. And I wanna push myself, but when you have a support system from somebody that you respect so much, it’ll give you a little extra push. We always have more in the tank.”
