Key Cowboys free agency signing suspended 3 games for DUI

As the Dallas Cowboys try to get back on track, they’re looking for more playmakers on defense. But now one of their latest additions won’t be available to start the 2026 campaign.

Defensive end Charles Snowden has been suspended the first three games of the season due to a DUI, via Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network. While Snowden will still be able to participate during the preseason, via Adam Schefter of ESPN, he’ll need to step away come Week 1.

The Cowboys signed Snowden to a one-year deal over the offseason. He had previously spent the last two seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders after beginning his NFL career with the Chicago Bears. Over 33 games total, including 18 starts, the defensive end has put up 67 tackles, 11 quarterback hits and 4.5 sacks.

Three of those sacks came with the Raiders in 2025. As did 28 tackles, four quarterback hits, two passes defended and a pick. His 70.5 grade from Pro Football Focus ranked 44/115 edge rushers.

After trading away Micah Parsons, the Cowboys have been desperately trying to upgrade their pass rush. They used one of their first-round picks on Malachi Lawrence. Which makes sense seeing as Dallas finished tied for fifth-fewest sacks with 35.

Snowden won’t be able to fix things on his own, but he will at least add some respected veteran depth to the pass rush. His Dallas debut will come with a delay though. While only three games, Snowden will be watching his new Cowboys teammates from the sidelines. Upon his return the franchise will be looking for him to make an impact.
