Jordan Spieth drops truth bomb on chance at career Grand Slam at PGA Championship
The career Grand Slam has been a hot topic in professional golf in recent times after Rory McIlroy completed the set of majors at the 2025 Masters Tournament before backing it up with a repeat victory at Augusta National in 2026.
Now, the talk is all about who will be the next to get it done. Scottie Scheffler will make his first run at the career slam this June at the U.S. Open, while Phil Mickelson is still chasing that elusive U.S. Open title as well. Many others, such as Collin Morikawa, Xander Schauffele, Jon Rahm and others are two majors away.
Jordan Spieth is a bit of an afterthought in pro golf these days, but he still sits just one major away from completing the career Grand Slam. That chance will come again this week at the PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club, his 10th chance to win the Wanamaker Trophy and complete the full set.
On Monday, Spieth sounded off on what it would mean for him to win the PGA Championship.
"As far as the career Grand Slam, this tournament's always highlighted. If I can win one more tournament in my life, it would obviously be this one for that reason."

“As far as the career Grand Slam, this tournament’s always highlighted,” Spieth said. “If I can win one more tournament in my life, it would obviously be this one for that reason.”
Spieth does have a solo second place finish at the PGA Championship in 2015, but he has really struggled there recently. He has not finished in the top 25 at the PGA since 2019 when he finished T-3, but he is hoping to reverse that this week and complete what would be an improbable feat considering where he is in his career.
Nothing about Spieth’s form of late suggests a Cinderella story is on the cards. He has zero top-10 finishes in 12 starts this year with five top-20s. He has not won a major since The Open Championship back in 2017 and has not contended at a major since a T-4 finish at the 2023 Masters. However, for a brief while, Spieth was one of the most dominant golfers in the sport’s history at his best. That is still giving fans hope coming into his latest career slam quest.
