Jaguars rumors: Parker Washington potentially getting new contract gets big update

The Jacksonville Jaguars enjoyed a historic turnaround in the 2025 NFL season, and they enter the upcoming campaign with renewed optimism that they’ll be able to continue that momentum.

However, one note of uncertainty hovering over the club is the contract status of emerging wideout Parker Washington, who is entering the last year of his current deal without an extension beyond 2026.

According to the latest from NFL Insider Jeremy Fowler, the Jaguars have been in talks with Washington about a new deal that would keep him in Jacksonville beyond the current season, and that there’s a decent chance pen could be put to paper before Week 1.

“Parker Washington is a hot name in Jacksonville right now because he’s had a tremendous camp; he’s a safety valve for Trevor Lawrence,” Fowler said via ESPN. “He’s expected to have a big year, and because of that, he wants big dollars. Now, both sides have been talking about a contract, and this one does have a chance to get done before Week 1. I’m told the player would prefer to get it done and not have it linger in season, whereas Jacksonville is comfortable continuing talks during the season if the player wants to engage.”

Washington, whom the Jaguars selected in the sixth round (185th overall pick) of the 2023 NFL Draft out of Penn State, amassed a career-best 847 yards on 58 receptions with five touchdowns for Jacksonville in the 2025 season. In the 42 games that he’s played so far in his career, he’s amassed 1,369 receiving yards on 106 receptions with 10 touchdowns.

He and the Jaguars open the season on Sept. 13 at home against the visiting Cleveland Browns.
