Jablonec vs Rangers quick tips

Jablonec vs Rangers predictions

The advantage belongs to Rangers at the midway point of this Conference League play-off, but the job is far from done.

A goal from Ryan Naderi early in the second half was enough to give Derek McInnes’ men a 1-0 victory over Jablonec in last week’s first leg.

There is no doubt it was a fair result. Rangers dominated the game from the first whistle to the last. The only disappointment was that they did not win by a wider margin.

Indeed, Rangers outperformed Jablonec on xG by 2.02 to 0.21. They took 13 shots to their opponents’ five, as the Czech team struggled to create clear-cut chances.

But because they are only 1-0 up on aggregate, Rangers still have plenty of work to do in the return fixture on Thursday.

They have had a full week to prepare for the fixture after choosing to postpone their Premiership clash with St Mirren, although Jablonec also had the weekend off.

Rangers are well positioned to see the job through from here, yet McInnes will not be taking anything for granted.

“Normally in Europe, you don’t get through a European tie if you only play well in one leg,” the Rangers boss said after the first match. “We’ve got to make sure we’re as strong as we can be next week.”

Jablonec vs Rangers tips

Will Rangers qualify for the Conference League, or can Jablonec turn the tie around?

Rangers to get over line

If Rangers dominate proceedings to the extent they did in the first leg, they will almost certainly advance to the league phase of the Conference League.

They no longer have home advantage behind them, though, and it is fair to say their early performances this term have not been entirely convincing.

Indeed, the first leg of this tie is the only match Derek McInnes’ team have won in 2026/27 outside of the League Cup.

But while Rangers are unlikely to have everything their own way, they should at least avoid defeat to qualify.

Rangers prioritise defence

Rangers were wasteful in front of goal last time out, but Derek McInnes will be pleased that his side were able to fashion opportunities.

He will have been even more delighted with the clean sheet Rangers kept – their first in his six competitive games at the helm.

Keeping things tight at the back will be a priority in the second leg too, especially in the first half.

If Rangers can get to half-time without having conceded, they will be one step away from reaching the Conference League.

Who will find net?

It is fair to say Djeidi Gassama did not have a prolific maiden Premiership season at Rangers.

The Mauritania international contributed three goals in 38 league appearances as the Gers finished outside the top two, behind both Celtic and Heart of Midlothian (managed, of course, by Derek McInnes).

But Gassama seemed to save his best form for Europe, finding the back of the net six times in 14 games in the Champions League and Europa League (including qualifiers).

His pace on the break will be an asset against Jablonec, with Gassama our pick to get on the scoresheet when Rangers head to Czechia.
