Ivan Toney set to be joined by Real Madrid superstar who could earn €1billion to dwarf Cristiano Ronaldo’s wages

Vincius Junior’s salary could be about to skyrocket.

talkSPORT understands the Brazilian superstar is reluctant to extend his stay at the Bernabeu amid what he perceives to be a breakdown in relationship with Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso.

Why is there tension between Xabi Alonso and Vinicius Junior?

It is understood Vinicius does not feel Alonso is giving him a fair chance to showcase his immense talent.

The 25-year-old’s frustration came to a head during the first El Clasico this term when he was taken off in the 72nd minute.

Vinicius is also understood to be unhappy with his role and minutes.

Although he has started 13 of Madrid’s 17 fixtures across all competitions this season, he has played the entire match just five times.

Despite the tension, Alonso has denied any hint of a rift between the two.

But should the situation deteriorate further, Saudi Pro League sides are waiting in the wings to take advantage.

How much could Vinicius Junior earn in Saudi Arabia?

talkSPORT understands Saudi clubs are prepared to sign Vinicius after next year’s World Cup, with Al-Ahli particularly interested.

Al-Ahli are also prepared to pay a pretty penny for Vinicius signature too.

It is understood the club would be willing to offer Vinicius a five-year contract with wages of £220million.

The figure is a £30m increase on Cristiano Ronaldo‘s salary at Al-Nassr and, across the five years of the deal, would net Vinicius a staggering €1b (£880m).

Vinicius’ Real Madrid contract expires in June 2027 but should he continue to show a reluctance to extend, the Spanish giants may be tempted to cash in following the 2026 World Cup.

Should a move to Al-Ahli transpire, Vinicius could soon call former Brentford striker Ivan Toney as a teammate.

Also on Al-Ahli’s books is ex-Manchester City star Riyad Mahrez, although the Algerian will be 35 next February and could make way to accommodate Vinicius.

Why links between Saudi Arabia and Vinicius Junior are no surprise

Saudi clubs have long held an interest in the Madrid superstar, who finished second in the 2024 Ballon d’Or rankings.

Last July, talkSPORT reported Saudi chiefs were prepared to launch a world record offer in the region of €350m (£302m), a figure that would gazump the £200m Paris Saint-Germain paid Barcelona to sign Neymar in August 2017.

talkSPORT also revealed Al-Ahli are the likeliest of the four Saudi Pro League clubs controlled by the PIF to land Vinicius.

It is understood there is a sentiment within the PIF and the Saudi Ministry of Sport Al-Ahli are ‘owed’ the next superstar to arrive on their shores.

Although Toney and Mahrez boast reasonable star power, it is not on par with the likes of Ronaldo, Karim Benzema (Al-Ittihad) or Neymar, who was at Al-Hilal but has since departed to Santos.

Should such a deal eventuate, Madrid stand to make a serious profit on the £38m they shelled out for Vinicius in 2017 when he was already impressing at age 16 for Brazilian club Flamengo.

Since his arrival, the 25-year-old has gone on to make over 330 appearances for Los Blancos across all competitions and has registered 198 goal contributions.

In the near-decade he has been at the club, Vinicius has won LaLiga three times and the Champions League twice.
