Insider reveals what White Sox should do at trade deadline
The Chicago White Sox have upset expectations so far during the 2026 season. They are 21-21 and in second place in the American League Central standings. The White Sox believe they can win the division. Trade rumors are already beginning to swirl around the MLB world, and it remains to be seen if Chicago will buy or sell at the deadline. MLB insider Robert Murray recently addressed the situation and shared his thoughts on what the ball club should do before the trade deadline.
“I don’t think they are ready for contending quite yet, but they’re exciting,” Murray said. “They’re fun to watch play baseball.”
Murray also gave credit to White Sox general manager Chris Getz for building an intriguing roster. So, what should Chicago do at the trade deadline?
“If you can maybe add somebody at the trade deadline who’s controllable, I think that’d be a really smart move.”
The White Sox do not have to go all in on selling or buying at the trade deadline in all reality. They can keep a similar roster while potentially making a trade or two. Acquiring a controllable player in a trade would be a respectable decision.
The White Sox will have decisions to make over the next few months. It will be interesting to see if they can continue to compete in the AL Central. It is a winnable division so anything can happen.
The ball club will look to climb over the .500 mark with a win on Thursday against the Kansas City Royals.
