How Spurs’ Mitch Johnson shut down Timberwolves’ Game 5 comeback attempt

Mitch Johnson and the San Antonio Spurs are one win away from the Western Conference Finals after fending off the Minnesota Timberwolves’ comeback in Game 5’s 126-97 victory to take a 3-2 lead in their second-round series. All-Star Victor Wembanyama bounced back from his ejection in Game 5, leading the Spurs with 27 points, 17 rebounds, five assists, and three blocks.

After the win, Johnson pointed to the Spurs’ determined approach that halted the Timberwolves from completing their comeback, and pulling ahead in the second half, he said, per Sports Illustrated’s Matt Guzman.

“Sometimes, we say enough is enough. And we draw a line,” Johnson said.

The Timberwolves will host the Spurs for Game 6 on Friday.
