Premier League 2026/27 opening weekend fixture dates and kick-off times in full

The 2026/27 Premier League season is now just days away.

With the World Cup over, the top-flight is ready to return and the countdown is on for the opening game of the campaign.

And Coventry will get things underway with their first game back in the Premier League for 25 years, facing champions Arsenal.

All 380 games for the 2026/27 season were confirmed in June and also see newly-promoted Hull City hosting Michael Carrick’s Manchester United on the opening weekend.

Liverpool, under new manager Andoni Iraola, travel to Newcastle with a fit-again Alexander Isak, who swapped the north east for the north west in a £125million transfer last summer.

Meanwhile, Tottenham travel to Brentford and feel they have the right manager in charge in Roberto De Zerbi, who guided them to safety on the final day of the 2025/26 season.

And Xabi Alonso‘s first game as Chelsea boss takes him to Fulham on Monday night, while it could be a changed Man City side that takes on Bournemouth with Elliot Anderson in the middle.

When does the Premier League season begin?

Arsenal, winners last season, begin the new season on Friday, August 21 as they take on Coventry at the Emirates at 8pm.

The top-flight opener will be exclusively live on talkSPORT.

Hull host Man United at 12:30pm on the first Saturday of the season – also on talkSPORT – while Brentford vs Tottenham is the 5:30pm match and there are a trio of 3pm games.

Newcastle vs Liverpool is the first 4:30pm Sunday match of the new campaign.

And Fulham vs Chelsea rounds off the opening weekend on Monday night, again live on talkSPORT.

Who do the promoted clubs play?

Ipswich are back in the big time, having last played against West Ham in 2025 and losing 3-1.

Their first home game is against Sunderland and it will be new manager Gary O’Neil’s opening competitive match in charge.

Hull, who were beaten by Tottenham 7-1 in their last Premier League game in 2017, won’t have it easier against a revitalised United side led by Carrick, who was given the manager’s role having guided them to third place last season.

“What a great game for us,” Hull assistant manager Dean Holden told talkSPORT. “We had an incredible season last year to get promoted.

“I was sat doing an interview at a similar time last year talking about the Championship fixtures, and people were having us as one of the relegation favourites.

“So, what the club did to get promoted is nothing short of incredible. And to then see the fixtures come out this morning, it just all seems very real.”

Elsewhere, it has been a long time coming for Coventry, whose last Premier League game was in May 2001.

A trip to Arsenal first will delight manager Frank Lampard, who will relish the test of playing the champions.

Boxing Day is back!

The Premier League has addressed the packed festive schedule over the Christmas and New Year period with no two match rounds taking place within 60 hours of each other.

Fans will be delighted to know that the traditional Boxing Day schedule will return to its usual slot on December 26.

Just one Premier League fixture took place on Boxing Day last season sparking major backlash from fans.

But there will be no such controversy this time around with multiple games expected to be televised on the day, pending broadcasting picks.

Arsenal face a festive trip to the the scene of their title celebrations when they face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Newcastle United host Manchester City, Nottingham Forest travel to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United and Hull entertain Liverpool.

Elsewhere, Tottenham take on Bournemouth, Frank Lampard faces an emotional reunion with former club Chelsea at the CBS Arena and Aston Villa host Leeds.
