How Aaron Judge, Mike Trout joined Yankees legends Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris in MLB history

The New York Yankees and Los Angeles Angels series this week has turned into the Aaron Judge and Mike Trout show. Trout is heating up without question, while Judge has continued to play at a high level. Judge hit another home run on Thursday against the Angels. Trout and Judge have now both hit four home runs during the series, becoming only the second players in MLB history to accomplish such a feat, according to Sarah Langs. Yankees legends Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris first accomplished the feat in 1962, when Mantle hit five and Maris hit four.

Mantle and Maris were of course on the same team, though. According to Langs, Judge and Trout are the first players to each hit four home runs in a series as opponents.

Aaron Judge has now hit eight total home runs in 2026. He is on track for another big season. Trout, meanwhile, has six home runs so far in 2026.

Both Trout and Judge also happen to be three-time MVP award winners. However, Judge won two of his three MVP awards in 2024 and 2025. If he continues to swing the bat like he is right now, the Yankees star may very well earn his third consecutive and fourth overall MVP in 2026.

Thursday’s game represents the final contest of the series between the Angels and Yankees in New York. New York currently holds a 2-1 series lead. It has been a competitive and exciting stretch of games, something that seemingly is not changing on Thursday.

Despite Aaron Judge’s early home run on Thursday, Mike Trout’s Angels hold a 2-1 lead as of this story’s writing.
