Hawks vs. Cavs prediction, odds, pick – 4/8/2026
We’re back with another betting prediction and pick as we turn attention towards the Eastern Conference for the continuation of this current four-game series. The Atlanta Hawks (45-34) take on the Cleveland Cavaliers (50-29) in their third meeting, series tied 1-1. Check our NBA odds series for the Hawks-Cavs prediction and pick.
The Atlanta Hawks are fifth in the Eastern Conference following their most recent 108-105 loss to the New York Knicks. The loss snapped a four-game winning streak as they’ve closed this recent stretch with 12 wins over their last 15 games, looking to take the series lead against Cleveland.
The Cleveland Cavaliers occupy the four-seed in the Eastern Conference after lastly beating the Memphis Grizzlies 142-126. They’ve built a three-game winning streak of their own and can still catch New York at third in the standings if they’re able to win-out their remaining three games.

Keys to Hawks vs. Cavs Matchup
The Hawks and Cavs will meet for back-to-back games to decide this season series, heading back to Atlanta on Friday before both teams conclude their regular season schedule. Both of the previous two meetings took place back in November 2025 as each team managed to gain a win on their home floor. The Cavaliers have been extremely consistent at home this season, but their record against the spread is lackluster and Atlanta has been a covering machine over the last 20 games. With this game coming in at a near-even line, the odds are rightfully in Cleveland’s favor despite the potential absence of Donovan Mitchell from this game.
Regardless, the Cavaliers’ roster is built on depth this season and the addition of James Harden has made this team a real contender in the upcoming Eastern playoffs. When Mitchell is available and leading his team in scoring, Harden is able to focus on dishing the ball and drawing defenders with the threat of his offense. He notched 14-assist nights in back-to-back games just last week, but expect him to be much more aggressive with his scoring as he’s averaging 31.0 PPG against the Hawks this season.
The Hawks, on the other hand, have been one of the hottest teams during this back half of the season. After being considered a play-in team at best, the Hawks have climbed up the rankings and now anticipate a No. 4 vs. No. 5 matchup against this same Cavaliers team. Jalen Johnson has become their got-to scorer and they could be looking towards hime again as he’s averaging 26.0 PPG against the Cavs this season. Watch for Dyson Daniels to also play a pivotal role in finding his teammates and orchestrating this offense while Johnson looks for the defensive mismatch.
This game will ultimately come down to whichever team can rebound the ball more effectively, to which the Cavaliers have a strong advantage in Evan Mobley’s presence in the paint. He’s tough to contain on both ends of the floor and the Cavs are efficient from the field as a whole, posting the NBA’s seventh-best mark at 48.1%. The Hawks, however, are the league’s fifth-most accurate team from three (37.1%), so it could come down to whichever team can find their rhythm early and carry that momentum.
Hawks vs. Cavs Prediction and Pick
With these two teams meeting for a back-to-back series and likely not much changing in the Eastern standings with three games left in the regular season, we should be expecting the Hawks and Cavs to meet in the first round of the playoffs in the No. 4 vs. No. 5 matchup. Home teams are 2-0 during this current series and the next two games should be rather telling as we could be expecting a very close seven-game series.
I think the Cavaliers should have the advantage at home in setting up their half-court sets and working the ball inside through Evan Mobley. James Harden should be successful with a lax defensive matchup and if the Cavs’ can lock down that end of the floor while securing rebounds, they should be able to swing the momentum while at home during this game.
For our final pick, let’s roll with the Cleveland Cavaliers to win at home as Atlanta gets their chance for revenge on Friday.
Final Hawks-Cavs Prediction & Pick: Cleveland Cavaliers -1.5 (-105); OVER 235.5 (-115)
