Harry Kane approached by Barcelona over shock transfer amid Bayern Munich contract uncertainty

Harry Kane has been contacted by Barcelona’s representatives over a blockbuster Camp Nou move, talkSPORT understands.

The England captain’s current deal with the German giants is due to expire at the end of the 2026/27 campaign.

Despite Barcelona’s interest, Bayern are optimistic Kane will sign a new deal, with talks to resume after the World Cup.

talkSPORT also understands Kane is settled in Germany.

The 32-year-old is currently focused on his international commitments, having fired England into the knockout stage in North America by scoring three goals in the group stage.

Kane has long been linked with other European giants, especially in January due to his previous £57million release clause.

However, Bayern’s honorary president Uli Hoeness revealed that this clause would expire at the end of that transfer window, meaning Barcelona would likely have to shell out for his services.

Deja vu?

Barca are the currently in the market for a new centre-forward after Robert Lewandowski announced that he would be departing the club upon the expiry of his contract this summer.

And it’s fair to say Kane would be the ideal successor to the Pole, having done similar three years ago at Bayern Munich.

After Lewandowski left the German giants in 2022 following a prolific eight years, Kane joined the following summer.

And since then, the Englishman has only furthered his reputation as one of Europe’s deadliest strikers.

Kane plundered in a staggering 61 goals in 51 matches for Bayern last season, breaking a host of goalscoring records in the process.

This includes Lewandowski’s record for the most goals in a single season for the Bundesliga champions.

He previously hit 55 goals during the 2019/20 season, only for Kane to go six better this term.

The huge goal tally helped fire Bayern to three trophies this season – the German Super Cup, Bundesliga and DFB Pokal.

Meanwhile individually, Kane won the European Golden Shoe as he finished as the leading goalscorer across Europe’s top five leagues.

Reports claim Barcelona are exploring ways to finance a move for the goal machine.

So far this summer, the LaLiga champions have already splashed the cash on one of Kane’s England teammates, snapping up Anthony Gordon in a £70m move from Newcastle.
