Guardians’ radio voice drops brutal Jazz Chisholm Jimmy Fallon diss at Yankees game
Tom Hamilton is already in the National Baseball Hall of Fame after receiving the Ford C. Frick Award last year, so he does not have to be overly worried about offending people with sarcastic remarks. Case in point, the longtime Cleveland Guardians radio play-by-play broadcaster felt emboldened to land a verbal barb on Jazz Chisholm Jr. early during Tuesday night’s road game against the New York Yankees.
The Silver Slugger Award winner and All-Star second baseman appeared on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Monday, which is something that Hamilton struggled to wrap his head around.
“Well, he predicted the Yankees will win the World Series,” the 71-year-old said in the second inning, per the Barstool Sports X account. “Pretty amazing he got on that Jimmy Fallon show batting .239.”

People who work for small-market clubs like the Guardians probably do not take kindly to big-market players making grand proclamations on late night television. Hamilton’s joke will pack even more bite following the Guardians’ 9-4 victory. Chisholm went 1-for-4 with two strikeouts in defeat. He is still batting .239 and carries a sub-.700 OPS through 57 games.
The 28-year-old left-handed hitter may be struggling at the dish, but he still boasts one of the bigger personalities in the sport. He also happens to play for the most iconic franchise in MLB history, which resides in the largest media market in the country. Perhaps a few other Yankees players turned down an offer to chat with Fallon, opening the door for Chisholm.
He seemed to enjoy his experience inside New York City’s Rockefeller Center, but plenty of mockery will ensue following Tom Hamilton’s burn. This should not be new to Jazz Chisholm Jr., however. The Bahamian understands that his flashy nature makes him a target, but he does not care. This athlete will proceed like he always does, and if he can build on a productive May and further increase his numbers, then few people will use him as a punch line moving forward.
The Yankees (36-24) hope that the Hamilton-issued jab incites a Chisholm eruption in Wednesday night’s matchup versus the Guardians (35-27).
