Goodwood betting tips: Horse racing predictions and tips for Saturday

Day two of the 2026 August Bank Holiday meeting at Goodwood takes place on Saturday, with the feature race being the Group 2 Celebration Mile.

The card features last year’s Group 1 National Stakes winner Zavateri, who bids to get back on track when dropping down in class.

My first bet of the day comes in the opening mile novice for fillies and the Charlie Johnston-trained LILY PINK should be up to winning on her second racecourse start in the hands of Callum Shepherd.

Backed from much bigger prices all the way into 7/2 for her debut at Newmarket, she was last of the four runners to leave the stalls and was held up patiently early on, before running on strongly to be beaten only a neck by Zarakova.

With that run under her belt, Lily Pink can take another step forward now and the fact she has an entry for the Group 1 bet365 Fillies’ Mile speaks volumes as to how highly thought of she is at the yard. She should get punters off to a flying start.

2.00 Goodwood – Ghost Mode @ 8/1

Moving onto the following 7f handicap and a case can be made for many in the 15-strong field. However, GHOST MODE bounced right back to his best when last seen and can continue on an upward trajectory.

Andrew Balding is operating at around 20 per cent this season, so the stable is ticking along nicely and his son of Ghaiyyath produced a scintillating display when winning over this course and distance off a mark of 93 at the start of the month.

Ghost Mode did it readily on the day and was strong in the betting, so the 4lb rise is unlikely to stop him in his tracks if he turns up in a similar mood.

3.10 Goodwood – Boiling Point @ 4/1

The feature race of the day is the Group 2 Celebration Mile and in-form Karl Burke can saddle BOILING POINT to victory at the expense of last year’s Group 1 National Stakes winner Zavateri.

The five-year-old son of Too Darn Hot is a very gutsy boy, proven when defying top weight in the Cambridgeshire last September, while he again showed his toughness when landing a 1m2f Listed event here by a nose in May.

Boiling Point confirmed his current wellbeing when runner-up in a 1m1f conditions race here last month and it will take a good performance by one of his rivals to get the better of him.

He loves a battle and I suspect if Zavateri is close to him heading for the post, Boiling Point’s experience could prove to be the difference.
