Glorious Goodwood 2026 betting angle

The first day of Glorious Goodwood kicks things off with a bang.

The highlight by far is the Al Shaqab Goodwood Cup Stakes, the first Group 1 of the week featuring the Gold Cup battlers Scandinavia and Trawlerman who went head to head to the line in a fantastic finish that saw the Aidan O’Brien-trained horse put his head in front.

They make a quick rematch just over a month after Royal Ascot and look closely matched again back down to 2m.

The rest of the races are also hotly contended with big prices on offer for some horses that look more than capable of making the frame.

Al Hudaiba is one of the shorter prices of the day and it will be a great contest against Haffner, but will his experience prevail?
