Giants QB Jaxson Dart’s training camp taunt draws harsh John Harbaugh reaction

The New York Giants are just weeks away from kicking off the 2026 NFL season, currently taking part in training camp as they prepare. The Giants will be led by quarterback Jaxson Dart this year after he took over the starting job from Russell Wilson a few weeks into last season.

Recently, Dart got some tough love from head coach John Harbaugh after he went overboard on a celebration during practice.

“Jaxson Dart rushed for a touchdown during a red-zone period and tossed the ball at Greg Newsome. Clearly, John Harbaugh wasn’t amused,” reported Jordan Raanan of ESPN on X, formerly Twitter.

“I think it’s a 15-yard penalty for taunting so we backed up the extra point and had them do it again,” said Harbaugh.

Harbaugh was then asked if he said anything to Dart about the play.

“Do you think I need to say anything in that case? It’s pretty clear cut,” said Harbaugh.

Dart has long been known for his fiery personality on the field, but as the NFL continues to crack down on taunting, he’ll need to rein in those celebrations in order to avoid costing his team yardage this season.

Dart showed some promising flashes during his rookie season last year, but also caused headaches for the team with his reckless play at times, as well as his seeming inability to protect himself from avoidable hits.

It remains to be seen if Harbaugh’s coaching will get through to the former Ole Miss star this year as he looks to turn into a formidable starter at the NFL level.

The Giants are slated to kick off their new season on September 13 with a home game against the Dallas Cowboys.
